During our first week together, we’ll kick things off by getting to know one another a bit better—both the lovely dogs and their humans! It’s all about creating a friendly little community here. Once we’ve introduced ourselves, we’ll dive into some fun and simple exercises, starting with 'touch' and 'paw'. Don’t worry, it’s really straightforward! After that, we’ll gradually bring in the 3Ds: distraction, duration, and distance, using commands your furry friends are likely already familiar with, like ‘sit’. I can’t wait to see how much we all learn and grow together!
As we kick off Week 2, let’s take a quick stroll down memory lane and have a little recap of Week 1. I’d love to hear how your practice has been going, so we’ll check in to see who’s completed their homework. After that, we’ll dive into some exciting new tasks, starting with 'leave it', which will help us build up to some solid impulse control! To wrap things up, we’ll also sprinkle in some distractions while we work on the good old 'sit' command, gradually adding on some duration and distance. Can't wait to see all the progress you and your pup will have made!
We will take a lovely moment to revisit what we’ve learned together before we dive into some new skills! This week, we’ll be focusing on ‘sit wait’, and ‘sit stay’ explaining the difference between the two commands and we will introduce a release cue for these behaviours too. It's a fantastic way to improve recall and practice impulse control! We’re also going to have some fun with recall exercises this week that you can continue recapping while at home.
We will take a moment to recap some of the things we’ve explored over the previous weeks! Then begin learning a neat little trick I like to call “around the world.” It’s a fun way to engage with your furry friend and build trust between you as well as your dogs confidence! Plus, we will also introduced a delightful little game known as the bucket game. This is a wonderful method for checking your dog for any injuries while ensuring they feel safe and calm. It’s all about bonding and making sure they’re healthy and happy.
We will take a few moments to recap the behaviours we’ve practiced before, ensuring you’re feeling confident with them. Then, we’ll jump into something fun—loose lead walking! We’ll start by getting your furry friend into the right position. After that, we’ll play a little game called the drunken dog walker, which is sure to bring some giggles! Once we’ve had our fun, we’ll move on to practising walking alongside a wall, so your dog learns not to wander off to the side. It’ll be a great time for both of you, as well as building your bond with your dog!
In our last week together, we'll make sure you're feeling great about everything we've learned. We'll chat about any worries or questions you might still have—there's no rush! After that, we'll do a quick assessment to see how well you've been following along and helping your dog pick up those fabulous skills we've covered. It’ll be a fun way to wrap things up before we celebrate with some well-deserved certificates! Exciting times ahead!
